STILL STREAKING….AND SOMETIMES EVEN NAKED!

That got your attention, didn’t it!?!?  I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I haven’t gone to join a naked running team. Although some people enjoy exercising in the buff. Yesterday was actually World Naked Bike Ride Day also known as Bare if you dare. I was going to post a picture to go along, but I couldn’t find any that seemed appropriate!

In all seriousness,  I have still been running I just haven’t had time to blog. The last few weeks were spent ending up the school year! As well as packing for and going to the best place in the World for vacation.

My streak is up to 171 days. I can’t believe I am almost to the halfway mark!

As far as the naked part goes, I have been wearing my Garmin when I run and on the days I only run a mile I don’t know my pace or time until I am finished. In the running world that is known as running naked.

Have a great evening and I hope to get back to the regularly scheduled blogging since its summer!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK 19

This was my recovery week. Surprisingly, I wasn’t as sore as I thought I would be. My body in general was tired, but not too bad.

I also had some new shoes to try out this week. Brian bought me the New Balance Zante fresh foams and they are awesome!

MONDAY

I opted to sleep in and skip Yogalates. My body was tired and needed the extra sleep.

1 mile run. This was rough, I think I looked like an old lady when I took off. 9:10 pace

TUESDAY

Strength and conditioning. Lisa subbed which always means a good class, thankfully it focused mainly on our upper body. We did run outside some, but my legs were feeling pretty good for the short runs.

1 mile run @ 8:25 pace

WEDNESDAY

Tabata

3 mile run @ 9:26 pace. It was so hot tonight!

THURSDAY

Strength and conditioning

I was so tired after work and was putting off my run. I took a short nap and then laid with my legs up the wall for about 10 minutes. I got up and felt  so freshed.

I even had some partners for my run and for the first time that I can remember, I beat Emma! 1 mile run @ 8:03 pace

FRIDAY

Ladies Rock Dayton  4 mile race @ 8:22 pace

SATURDAY

1 mile run @ 8:01 pace

May mileage 43 miles

Run streak 135 days!

A RACE FULL OF FUN AND SURPRISES

The weekend started off with the Ladies Rock Dayton 4 miler with some friends. The three of us are running a half marathon at the end of June, so this was a fun warm up race.

This is a new race and it didn’t disappoint. The swag bag was full of goodies. There were chocolates, a healing salve, useful coupons, drink koozie, a bag, and a nice Brooks race shirt.

The course was on a bike path along the Great Miami River and wound through Carillon Historical Park where it finished. It was about 85 degrees, but there was a nice breeze so it didn’t feel too hot.

At the finish line we received an awesome beer glass and a drink ticket.

The after party was one of the best I have been to. They had a bartender, and a spread of food that included hummus, pretzel chips, donuts, veggies and dip, bagels and cream cheese, cookies, and some great healthy red velvet and cookie dough dips! I forgot to take any pictures of the food, but it was yummy!

They announced the overall top three winners and then the announced the overall Masters winner. Imagine my surprise when they called my name!  I was shocked to be on stage! The prize bag and bouquet of flowers was amazing!

I ended up finishing 12th overall, 1st overall in the Masters division, 2nd in my age group. How did I end up 2nd in the 40 + Masters age group and still win overall Masters you ask? The overall winner was the 41 year old winner of my age group and you can’t win two prizes! The “old” girls really did ROCK this race!

This was such a fun race and a great time with friends. I can’t wait to run it again next year!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEKS SIXTEEN, SEVENTEEN, AND EIGHTEEN

Oops! I guess I have been slacking on my recaps. Actually I knew I hadn’t posted, I just wasn’t feeling the workouts the last few weeks and writing about it at the time was making me relive a not so great workouts. WEEKLY WORKPUT RECAP WEEK FIFTEEN

This week started out much better than last week. I felt pretty good for the most part. By FRIDAY, my cough was back with a vengeance and my weekend runs didn’t go quite as planned. I think that is why I held off on posting this, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get my full last long run in. I have come to realize I am as prepared distance wise as I can be. And I just need to move on.

MONDAY

No Yogalates today. I was pretty tired today and decided to just sleep in.

1 mile run outside @ 7:26 pace. This run started out great and then two dogs came running up on me. They looked threatening (to me!) and thanks to 3 wonderful neighbors who came to my rescue as well as a random guy in his car trying to corral the dogs I was able to finally continue on my way. I did encounter the dogs again as I was almost finished with my run, but I was able to divert them.

TUESDAY

Strength and Conditioning

Courtney subbed for Mike so we actually did Tabata.

5 mile run outside  @ 8:32 pace.

WEDNESDAY

Tabata

Lisa subbed for Courtney and it was a Tabata style class.

6 mile run outside @ 8:44 pace.

THURSDAY

Strength and Conditioning

Mike kicked our butt today.

5 mile run outside @ 8:48 pace.

FRIDAY

1 mile run outside @ 7:54 pace.

SATURDAY

I switched my run with Sunday due to impending rain. I had to run late in the afternoon because Alex had a soccer tournament.

I had 20 planned, a few miles in I decided to change to 12 because I was coughing all day and really congested. I ended up stopping at 7 and made the “call of shame” to Brian to pick me up. 7 miles outside @ 9:21 pace. I ended up doing a breathing treatment afterwards. My body was exhausted.

SUNDAY

4 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:14 pace.

Weekly mileage 29 miles

Monthly mileage 82 miles

Yearly mileage 501 miles

Run Streak 114 days

I was really disappointed in myself for not running my 20 miles, but I know that my health is more important. I also know I have recently done some long runs and I will be fine fitness wise come race day. Here’s to the last two weeks of marathon training!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK FOURTEEN

This was a tough week for runs. I have been battling a cough and chest congestion. I almost broke my run streak because I felt so bad, but I made it out every day this week and many days it was only to keep the streak alive.

MONDAY

Yogalates

1 mile run outside @ 8:24 pace. This was the first of many slow runs due to a tight chest as I ran.

TUESDAY

Strength and Conditioning

2 mile run outside @ 9:35 pace. This was supposed to be 5 and it was all I could do to get through the 2. 😦

WEDNESDAY

Tabata Lisa subbed today and it was a great class. I did take it easy as there was a lot of cardio ( she did an adapted Tabata and kicked our butts) and my breathing/chest tightness/coughing was still bothering me.

1 mile run outside @ 8:45 pace. This run was bad all around. I was trying to dodge rain showers and about halfway in it started to rain. I finished about a 1/4 mile from home and was just going to walk because I couldn’t stop coughing. It thundered and started to rain harder, so I jogged the rest of the way home.

THURSDAY

Strength and Conditioning

1 mile run outside @9:06 pace.

FRIDAY

1 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:30 pace. Then I napped (all this coughing is wearing me out!) and then went to the Doctor.

SATURDAY

5 mile run outside @ 8:53 pace. After being pumped full of medicine, I felt ok running today. It was definitely the best I felt all week. I did have one coughing fit during my run that I think shot me into the air in a star jump (at least it was entertaining for the neighbors!)

Yard work for about an hour

SUNDAY

12 miles @ 9:17 pace. I was supposed to run 20 today, but at the advice of my husband and Doctor, I decided to switch my run with next weekend. This was definitely a good choice. I will do my last long run next week and then will be all set to taper after that.

Weekly mileage 23 miles

Monthly mileage 53 miles

Yearly mileage 472 miles

Run Streak 107 days

Let’s hope for better running this week!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK THIRTEEN

This week involved a LOT of running! I am really getting geared up for my marathon now. Being on spring break allowed me to do some of my runs/workouts at different times. This is why I long for summer!

MONDAY

Yogalates

20 mile run outside @ 9:07 pace. (My Nike+ app clocked one of my miles ridiculously fast, so after correcting for that I think my pace was really about 9:20.). Not bad!

TUESDAY

I slept in today and took a power pump class. I forgot how hard this class can be, but I love the burn.

5 mile run @ 8:46 pace. It was super windy!

WEDNESDAY

5 mile run @ 8:44 pace.

Stennocis at the park with the kids

THURSDAY

Power pump

5 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:37 pace. (It was lightening like crazy, so I opted for an inside run)

FRIDAY

8 mile run on the treadmill (it was rainy). @ 8:23 pace. I wasn’t feeling it today. I took a short break at the halfway point.

SATURDAY

12 mile run outside @ 9:04 pace. I used my new Garmin and I love it!

SUNDAY

1 mile run outside after the first egg hunt and before Church. Unfortunately, I didn’t wear my phone and I thought I had my Garmin turned on correctly, but I didn’t, so I don’t know my pace.

Weekly mileage 56 miles

March mileage 168 miles!

April mileage 31 miles

Yearly mileage 450 miles

Run streak 100 days!!!

HAPPY EASTER!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK TWELVE

This week was pretty low key and unfortunately didn’t have enough yoga involved. I changed up a few workouts, but overall a good week.

MONDAY

Yogalates

10 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:27 pace. I was rocking this run!

TUESDAY

Strength and conditioning class

3.1 miles outside @ 8:28 pace. Tummy trouble so I cut this short. It was supposed to be 5 😦

WEDNESDAY

Tabata class

8 mile run outside @ 8:41 pace. Felt good!

THURSDAY

Strength and conditioning class

5 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:29 pace.

FRIDAY

1 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:19 pace.

SATURDAY

5 mile run outside @ 8:38 pace. I was hoping for a faster pace, but I just wasn’t feeling it.

SUNDAY

1 mile run outside @ 7:33 pace.

I was scheduled for 20, but we had lots of painting to do in Emma’s room that I wanted to get done, so I switched my long run to Monday since I am on spring break and have plenty of time in the morning to run.

Weekly mileage 33 miles

Monthly mileage 143 miles

Yearly mileage 394 miles

Run streak 93 days

Five weeks from now is the Flying Pig Marathon!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK ELEVEN

Spring is upon us and that means we are full force into sports and activities for my kids. With more practices, games, and rehearsals to get to I have to get creative with blocking out my time to get my runs in.

For those who are always wondering why I get up at the crack of dawn to work out, it is sometimes the only free chance in the day I get! Usually I only take a workout class if it is still dark out.

I am not a fan a running in the dark. (Unless I am running with 14,000 of my closest friends at Wine and Dine).

I have this irrational fear of something (raccoons specifically) jumping out at me in the dark. I know it is crazy, but I can’t help it. I fear dead animals in daylight so…… Anyway, I conquered that fear this week when the only chance I had to run one day was at 6 in the morning before we left for a full day of soccer. Surprisingly I survived!  I actually enjoyed it and may do it again in the future.

MONDAY

Yogalates

1 mile run outside @ 7:57 pace

TUESDAY

Strength and conditioning class. (It was warm enough to go outside :))

5 mile run outside @ 8:42 pace.

WEDNESDAY

Tabata class

3 mile run outside @ 8:46 pace.

FRIDAY
