BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, FRIDAY FAVS APRIL 12th

This has been a tough week for me. We are back at school after a week off for Spring Break. We have had lots of rain which caused some leaking and chaos at school on Tuesday. The worst is that I have been coughing/not feeling great since last Saturday. What I thought was just allergies at first turned into some sort of chest congestion and a cough that was unpredictable and annoying, especially at night. (more on this later). Today is a new day with sunshine and decent temperatures!

APRIL SHOWERS BRING PRETTY FLOWERS

As much as I am not a fan of all the rain we have been having, I do love all the flowers that are starting to bloom.

CHOOSING OUR FASTPASS + SELECTIONS

This past week we were able to make our Fastpass selections for our upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. We have our usual favorites like Thunder, Space, and Splash Mountain. We also have some new (to some family members) as well, such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tower of Terror (I can’t wait for this one!). It will be Eric’s first ride on it and Brian’s second time ever (the first one didn’t go so well ).

FAV # 3

HIDDEN MICKEYS

We have some great landscaping in our yard that has the shape of that special guy I love so much!

HOME COOKED MEALS

This week with not feeling great we had lots of leftovers, freezer meals, and even fast food one night. By Thursday I couldn’t take it any more and made this recipe that was delicious!  It was so good!  I can’t wait to make it again.

NEW FUN BEERS

I ordered this beer that was just calling my name.  I loved it even more when the bottle was put in front of me. It was yummy and now I am on the lookout for it locally.

FINALLY STARTING TO FEEL BETTER!

I went to the Dr. on FRIDAY and have a diagnosis of possibly an infection (antibiotic for that) and asthma (who knew you can develop that as an adult) so I have oral prednisone as well as an inhaler, and allergy meds and nose spray. For someone who is not a big medicine taker this is quite unusual. You gotta do what you gotta do I guess. I am just glad that my Dr. understands my need to be able to continue training for my marathon that is in three weeks and is helping me get better.

Here’s to hoping for a great week of weather and feeling better next week!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK ELEVEN

Spring is upon us and that means we are full force into sports and activities for my kids. With more practices, games, and rehearsals to get to I have to get creative with blocking out my time to get my runs in.

For those who are always wondering why I get up at the crack of dawn to work out, it is sometimes the only free chance in the day I get! Usually I only take a workout class if it is still dark out.

I am not a fan a running in the dark. (Unless I am running with 14,000 of my closest friends at Wine and Dine).

I have this irrational fear of something (raccoons specifically) jumping out at me in the dark. I know it is crazy, but I can’t help it. I fear dead animals in daylight so…… Anyway, I conquered that fear this week when the only chance I had to run one day was at 6 in the morning before we left for a full day of soccer. Surprisingly I survived!  I actually enjoyed it and may do it again in the future.

THE RACE THAT STARTED IT ALL!

The runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend went on sale today. Within 35 minutes both the half marathon and the 5k were sold out!

Thanks to the luck of the Irish, my husband and I were able to sign up. I did panic when registration first opened as I had been on my computer prior to noon and was ready to enter my info and then the runDisney site FROZE!  I had to get to class, so thankfully my husband was able to get us both registered.

This race holds special meaning to both of us as this was the first half marathon we ran. Back in 2012, I would run occasionally, but never more than 3-4 miles. I really wanted to go back to Disney World and I saw they had a half marathon. I told my husband if I were to run a half marathon anywhere it would be Disney. He signed me up as a Mother’s Day gift and three years later we are still running Disney!

I did it! I remembered to post on Friday!

FAV# 1

CHIRPING BIRDS IN THE MORNING

Almost every morning as the boys and I wait at the bus stop we have listened to the birds chirping. One more sign that spring is here!

FAV # 2

Wearing shorts on my run in March!  We have had beautiful weather this week (with the exception of Tuesday when it rained all day). I love that I can wear some different clothes on my run.

Hopefully this weather sticks around for a while!

FAV #3

Double digit countdown to vacation

We recently hit the double digits on the countdown for our next Disney vacation!  We are so excited and have done most of the planning, but are anxiously awaiting the day to book our Fastpasses. Disney is my favorite place to vacation and I think for the most part my family agrees!

FAV # 4

Dragging the kids in at dark!

With the weather being so nice and the time change, my kids have been spending all of their free time outside. Two nights ago I had to drag them in at dark from the neighborhood kickball game. I love that we live in a cul-de-sac and there are so many kids to play with.

FAV # 5

Out of this world cookie cakes!

A friend of mine makes cookie cakes as a business out of her home and they are AMAZING! They have become my go to instead of cake whenever possible. We had one tonight to celebrate the boys basketball season. Check out all the amazing cookies she has made Here.

It’s the end to another five day work week. One more five day week, a four day week, and then it is spring break. Let’s hope for nice weather!

DISNEY SIDE @HOME CELEBRATION

I was selected to host a Disney Side @home celebration again this year. I received a box full of great supplies to help host the party. The theme of our box was multi-generational based on the questionnaire I answered.

We decided to incorporate the Disney party into my twin boys 9th birthday celebration.

Since my boys love Disney, but they also love Toy Story we decided to make that the theme  of our multi-generational party.  We asked guests to dress up for the party and they didn’t disappoint.

Woody, Zurg, and Jessie

Ken and Barbie

The  Duff cake mix was easy to make and made for some delicious cake cups.

We made lots of Toy Story themed food.  The kids got in on the cooking as well.

Thanks to Elsa for crashing our party, some of our guests were not able to make it Andy’s house for the party.

Thanks to supplies in our party box, we had goodie bags for all of our guests.

Fun was had by all, especially the  birthday boys!

Thanks to Disney, Maria Bailey, and all the wonderful sponsors for the supplies to host a fun Disney side @ home celebration!

See ya real soon!

Disneyland Half marathon

Today was the day to register for the Disneyland Half Marathon! The weekends events include a 5k, 10k, and a half marathon. If you want to really challenge yourself, you can sign up for the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge which involves running the 10k on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday.

IMG_0157

I would have loved to sign up for any/all of the races, but it just wasn’t in the cards for me this year. 😦

I did enjoy living vicariously through everyone that was signing up and following along on social media. The Dumbo Double Dare sold out in about 35 minutes! As of this posting, the half marathon is the only race with availability.

As I got dressed this morning, I subconsciously put on my Disneyland shirt (my husband brought it back from the Star Wars race weekend) and my Goofy Challenge shirt. I also realized I wore my runDisney shirt on my run today. My brain must have really wanted to sign up for this race.

Well, hopefully 2016 will be the year that I get to run in Disneyland and earn my Coast to Coast. Unless there is a Fairy Godmother out there who would like to sponsor me!!! Any takers?

A girl can dream. Dreaming of runDisney

Disney Side Celebration

Show Your Disney Side

I have been chosen to host a Disney Side celebration again this year. My family and I are very excited! We love Disney and anytime we can incorporate Disney into a party, it is even better!

This is the kit I received to host the party

We are going to celebrate my twins 9th birthday in a few weeks with a DisneySide party. I have already started the planning process and can’t wait to see it all come together.

Last year I was also selected as a DisneySide host and here are a few pictures of how we celebrated.
