A LONG RUN DESERVES…

A delicious dinner! 



Usually after a long run I am not very hungry. I know I need to replenish with calories, but sometimes that is hard for me to do right away. 

Today after my 20 miles I wasn’t too hungry so I had some peanut butter crackers. I was taking my kids to the park to play so I made sure to get some Nuun and also a Diet Coke (there is something about a Diet Coke after a long run that I just can’t resist). 

I snacked some in the afternoon and then started dinner. Alex requested bacon wrapped chicken and I was really glad he did. It hit the spot!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK TWELVE

This week was pretty low key and unfortunately didn’t have enough yoga involved. I changed up a few workouts, but overall a good week. 

MONDAY

Yogalates

10 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:27 pace. I was rocking this run! 

TUESDAY

Strength and conditioning class

3.1 miles outside @ 8:28 pace. Tummy trouble so I cut this short. It was supposed to be 5 😦

WEDNESDAY

Tabata class

8 mile run outside @ 8:41 pace. Felt good!

THURSDAY

Strength and conditioning class

5 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:29 pace. 

Staff/student basketball. I am not much of a baller, but I enjoy running up and down the court. The staff won!

FRIDAY

1 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:19 pace. 

SATURDAY

5 mile run outside @ 8:38 pace. I was hoping for a faster pace, but I just wasn’t feeling it. 

SUNDAY

1 mile run outside @ 7:33 pace. 

I was scheduled for 20, but we had lots of painting to do in Emma’s room that I wanted to get done, so I switched my long run to Monday since I am on spring break and have plenty of time in the morning to run.

FRIDAY FAVS MARCH 27th

Well, I almost didn’t make it this week, I’m cutting it close, but it is still FRIDAY. It is the first day of spring break and we have been busy cleaning and getting Emma’s room ready to paint, but it has been a good start so far.

Alex had his first soccer tournament last weekend. His team played in a local tournament and ended up in second place!  Not a bad way to start the season. This was the first of five tournaments the boys will have this spring.

Spring break!



Today is the first day of spring break!  We are not going anywhere this year, but we will still have lots of fun! Lots of cleaning, organizing, and painting are on the agenda. We will also do some fun activities with the kids: Skyzone, COSI (a local hands on museum), laser tag, and cousin fun are just a few ideas. 

I am just glad to have a week to enjoy the warm frigid spring air. It has been snowing and in the 20’s today. Hopefully we will get a few warmer days next week.

Great classic movies

I was flipping through channels 

Sat night a came across Dirty Dancing (maybe it’s not a classic to you, but it makes my list). I love that movie. I ended up watching the whole movie and I loved every minute of it. 

Watching Dirty Dancing takes me take to eighth grade and always makes me feel like I could be a great dancer just like Baby. (THINKING I’m a great dancer is as far as it goes)

The music is great too!  My favorite is (“I’ve had) The Time of My Life”

Baking

I love to bake! I don’t bake nearly as much as I used to, much to my husbands dismay. 

My favorite thing to bake is probably my grandma’s cut-out cookie recipe.  I will be making those next week for an extended family Easter celebration. 

My husband would like it if I made chocolate chip cookies every day week, but he is lucky if I make them every few months. I am just not a chocolate chip cookie lover. I do love the dough though! I could eat a whole bowl of any kind of cookie dough. 





That is all for this week. Good thing I did lots of burpees this morning since I probably ate half the cookie dough when making it!

WEEKLY WORKOUT RECAP WEEK ELEVEN

Spring is upon us and that means we are full force into sports and activities for my kids. With more practices, games, and rehearsals to get to I have to get creative with blocking out my time to get my runs in. 



For those who are always wondering why I get up at the crack of dawn to work out, it is sometimes the only free chance in the day I get! Usually I only take a workout class if it is still dark out.



 I am not a fan a running in the dark. (Unless I am running with 14,000 of my closest friends at Wine and Dine). 

I have this irrational fear of something (raccoons specifically) jumping out at me in the dark. I know it is crazy, but I can’t help it. I fear dead animals in daylight so…… Anyway, I conquered that fear this week when the only chance I had to run one day was at 6 in the morning before we left for a full day of soccer. Surprisingly I survived!  I actually enjoyed it and may do it again in the future.

THE RACE THAT STARTED IT ALL!

The runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend went on sale today. Within 35 minutes both the half marathon and the 5k were sold out!



Thanks to the luck of the Irish, my husband and I were able to sign up. I did panic when registration first opened as I had been on my computer prior to noon and was ready to enter my info and then the runDisney site FROZE!  I had to get to class, so thankfully my husband was able to get us both registered. 

This race holds special meaning to both of us as this was the first half marathon we ran. Back in 2012, I would run occasionally, but never more than 3-4 miles. I really wanted to go back to Disney World and I saw they had a half marathon. I told my husband if I were to run a half marathon anywhere it would be Disney. He signed me up as a Mother’s Day gift and three years later we are still running Disney!

This was a tough week for me.  My legs were tired all week. The time change didn’t seem to bother me, but we had a different schedule at school due to state testing and that seemed to wear me out by Friday. I am starting to count down the days to Spring Break!

MONDAY

I forgot to set my alarm and missed Yogalates 😦

1 mile redemption run outside @ 7:24 pace.

TUESDAY

Strength and conditioning class (killer lower body workout, this could have contributed to my tired legs)

8 mile run on the treadmill @ 8:55 pace.  I had to switch my Tuesday and Wednesday runs due to kids activities and it was raining, so the treadmill it was.  

WEDNESDAY

Tabata class

5 mile run outside @ 8:36 pace. 

THURSDAY 

Strength and conditioning class

4 mile run outside @ 8:48 pace.  I just couldn’t run all five, my legs were exhausted. 

FRIDAY 

1 mile on the treadmill @ 8:10 pace to keep my streak alive. 

Walked 10 minutes at increasing inclines.

SATURDAY

8 mile run outside @ 8:47 pace.

SUNDAY

18 mile run outside @ 9:17 pace. I felt so much better today.

My legs are feeling better today.  Compression socks multiple days this week has helped.
