The other day due to kids sports schedules and rain showers I ended up running later in the evening. I haven’t run with the sun setting in quite some time.
Typically I am running earlier in the day with the sunrise.
I didn’t want to stop to take a picture and by the time I finished the sun was pretty low.
This is what I thought of as I ran into the setting sun!
Run streak day 251!
I’m not sure if it was the roosters crowing as I started my run or the rising sun.
Maybe the cool temperature or the nine hours of sleep I got.
Maybe it’s the relief of not having marathon training held over my head. After two soccer games today as well as a trip to Target, Costco, and Kroger there definitely wasn’t time for a long run.
All I know is that my run today was back on pace where it should be! I loved every minute of it!
Run streak day 240!!!
Today I have been feeling a great sense of relief along with a feeling of guilt and sadness. I officially changed from the Columbus marathon to the Columbus half marathon.
As I was getting ready to run this morning I took a look at my training calendar for the next 8 weeks and I began to wonder how I was going to fit it all in.
Not only does my plan call for four weekends of pretty high mileage, between three of my kids we have soccer tournaments, many other league soccer games, as well as cross country meets. I started to panic and realize it would be difficult to fit it all in.
I have run three marathons previously, but the timing of those and the less intensive training plans allowed me to run and still live my busy life.
My decision ultimately boiled down to the fact that my family is the most important thing to me. If I tried to squeeze my long runs in on tournament weekends or any weekend for that matter, I would never see my husband and kids. If I changed my training around to fit life right now I didn’t feel I would be trained well enough for how I want to approach this race.
As I went out for my run early this morning I made the decision to switch from the full to the half. As I ran, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
Shortly after returning I told my husband and immediately made the official change online. I wanted to do it before I changed my mind. As the day has gone on I have felt relief, but at the same time a little sad and almost guilty that I am not running the full. I know it was the right decision for me and my family.
I will be back for another marathon maybe in the spring, OR super wishful thinking that my husband will send me to Disney in January! (There are still bibs for the marathon). A GIRL CAN DREAM!
Back on December 27, 2014 I started my run streak. My goal was to run at least 1 mile a day for 365 days. I set this goal as part of an online running group. One of the members of the group is going to purchase jackets with the group name Magic Milers if you complete the challenge.
When I first started out on this venture I thought it would be a daunting task, but I also thought it was possible to complete. As days turned into weeks I became impressed with myself for keeping up with my goal.
July 14, 2015 marked day 200 of my run streak! I almost can’t believe I have made it this far. There were days in late April where I had some allergy related asthma issues and barely ran the minimum 1 mile, but I did it! I have run in rain, snow, hot, and cold. I have run in the very early morning hours of 1 AM and the last hours of the day 11 PM.
In the past 200 days I have run 858 miles. I have a new 5k PR: 25:50, a new half marathon PR: 1:54:39, and a new marathon PR: 4:15:22!
People ask me what I am going to do when I get to my 365 days goal. I am not really sure (I have to get there first!), but right now I think I will continue to run!
Here’s to 165 + more days of running
Running on vacation is possible with some planning. Since starting my run streak I have had to make sure I can find a place to run no matter where I am. That is not always easy. I have had to wait in line for a treadmill and sometimes use treadmills that weren’t in the best shape. I prefer to run outside, but sometimes that is not a safe option.
On our recent trip to Disney World I ran everyday. I ran in the evening, early morning, and even super early morning one day. ( we arrived back at the resort from a day in the parks @ 12:50 AM, so I went for a run since it was technically the next day!) I enjoyed the scenery on my runs and welcomed the change. It was fun to stop and take in my surroundings. My family even joined me once or twice.
We ran to New Orleans and back one day
the family that runs together , has fun together! runDisney!
Checking out Hollywood Studios
a view of the Eiffel Tower
The wonderful views help with the pace!
Do you run while on vacation?
Do you run on a treadmill or venture out?
That got your attention, didn’t it!?!? I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I haven’t gone to join a naked running team. Although some people enjoy exercising in the buff. Yesterday was actually World Naked Bike Ride Day also known as Bare if you dare. I was going to post a picture to go along, but I couldn’t find any that seemed appropriate!
In all seriousness, I have still been running I just haven’t had time to blog. The last few weeks were spent ending up the school year! As well as packing for and going to the best place in the World for vacation.
My streak is up to 171 days. I can’t believe I am almost to the halfway mark!
As far as the naked part goes, I have been wearing my Garmin when I run and on the days I only run a mile I don’t know my pace or time until I am finished. In the running world that is known as running naked.
Have a great evening and I hope to get back to the regularly scheduled blogging since its summer!
This was my recovery week. Surprisingly, I wasn’t as sore as I thought I would be. My body in general was tired, but not too bad.
I also had some new shoes to try out this week. Brian bought me the New Balance Zante fresh foams and they are awesome!
I opted to sleep in and skip Yogalates. My body was tired and needed the extra sleep.
1 mile run. This was rough, I think I looked like an old lady when I took off. 9:10 pace
Strength and conditioning. Lisa subbed which always means a good class, thankfully it focused mainly on our upper body. We did run outside some, but my legs were feeling pretty good for the short runs.
1 mile run @ 8:25 pace
3 mile run @ 9:26 pace. It was so hot tonight!
Strength and conditioning
I was so tired after work and was putting off my run. I took a short nap and then laid with my legs up the wall for about 10 minutes. I got up and felt so freshed.
I even had some partners for my run and for the first time that I can remember, I beat Emma! 1 mile run @ 8:03 pace
Ladies Rock Dayton 4 mile race @ 8:22 pace
1 mile run @ 8:01 pace
4 mile run @ 8:25 pace
This weeks workouts were a nice and relaxing. Now it’s time to get back into gear with my runs for my next half marathon at the end of June.
Weekly mileage 15 miles
May mileage 43 miles
Run streak 135 days!
